:Kjetil, we don't have a great solution, but there are two schemes for static dumps, both described at Wikipedia : Database download.
The hard-coded " edit " link is there because the archive was meant as an experimental static dump, with links to get back to the main site.
*Suggest publications that came with CD or DVD to include converted static dump of Wikipedia ( including viewer applications, if required ) in their CD or DVD . Even better, suggest them to write an article about Wikipedia too.
Note however that this is not a requirement of the GFDL . The static dumps were designed for the case where the reader has no internet access, thus they contain the necessary attribution and license information within the dump itself .-- Tim Starling 02 : 30, 13 September 2006 ( UTC)
Our system is to create a dump of articles on a given day, and that becomes the snapshot we release, and there is always a lot of cleanup on this static dump-removing unwanted tags, unlinking redlinks, etc . We could re-organise the order of sections at that stage if needed, but that is an extra bit of work we'd rather not do.
